Peacocks at Pahl's Pumpkin PatchOver the past few weeks, our family has enjoyed a variety of events including color tours, haunted walks, and we even stopped by the Ghost Ship out in Manistee. Which is extremely cool by the way. If you haven’t checked it out before, you definitely should next year.

Our Favorite

There are many farms in our area to choose from, but our favorite spot is definitely Pahl’s Pumpkin Patch, in Buckley.

This past weekend we decided to take the family, and by family, I mean just the youngest. The two older kids are too cool for us now.

Well, we had a blast without them. As is our yearly tradition, we pigged out on donuts, and food from the concession stand. They had some food trucks there too. This year they introduced apple cider slushies. I was unsure about them, but they ended up being really good.

Shooting Hoops at Pahls Pumpkin PatchThe Guys Went off to Play

The guys immediately went to play basketball that was built from old farm equipment. It was a new addition to the farm this year. A shoot rolled the balls right back to you. Pretty ingenious for sure!

That was followed by Jeff and Ryker playing a couple rounds of corn hole while I played with a bunch of the cute little goats they allow to free roam. The same goats that eventually all ganged up on me (I’ll go into more detail later).

Afterwards we all walked the corn maze and checked out the rest of the animals. My favorite were the peacocks. However, the guys loved the pigs and watching them race. It was pretty hilarious how they kept getting distracted by food on the ground. In the end I don’t know if any of the pigs actually crossed the finish line.

Hayride and Apple Cannons

We had a bit of a wait for the hayride, so we all got some shots off with the apple cannon. I was not very accurate with hitting the targets, but it’s still one of my favorite activities to do there.
The hayride gave us a scenic tour of the wooded part of their property. We had a scavenger list and checked off many boxes thanks to the fun decor they had hidden on the trail.

Once back, I remembered we hadn’t bought any treats to feed the goats.

The attack of the goats at Pahl's Pumpkin PatchThe Attack of the Goats!

I didn’t get more than 10 yards out of the store before I had a trail of the devious little creatures following me. I then made the mistake of kneeling down closer to their level to break the ice cream cone into small pieces.

As if it were a perfectly coordinated attack, one jumped on my shoulders and dragged me onto my back, while the others all pounced on top of me to get to the cone and seeds. Instead of helping, Jeff of course grabbed his phone to record. I most definitely lost the battle, haha!

Pumpkin Picking

We ended the day by picking out the perfect white and orange pumpkins for carving/painting and grabbed some acorn and butternut squash.

I actually roasted one of each with dinner tonight, in a vanilla bourbon syrup glaze that I picked up at my local farmer’s market. Super tasty, and one of our favorite sides.

If you’re looking for a fun fall adventure, this is absolutely the place to visit.

I hope you all have been enjoying the season so far, and that your Fall is as colorful as the leaves.
